As I work on putting together a Power Point presentation about women's history and the launch of my book, "Female Adventurers," in muggy 80-degree temperatures, I cannot help but think how hard it must have been for our foremothers who did not have all the modern conveniences we have, such as air conditioning. | They, our ancestors, come to mind also as I prepare for a drive to Connecticut this week. For me, it is a simple matter of filling up the gas tank and driving three hours. The same trip for the women in my book would have meant preparing food that would travel without spoiling and walking, or in later years riding a horse, for days. |
